“What’s my video’s biggest enemy?” Video Answers. Episode 32. Part 1.

Guess what? Your video has enemies, ones that can wreck havoc on your objective, your message and your audience. Knowing your enemy could save your video production.
We’ll address part 1 of that here in this episode of Video Answers.

Ask any military commander his greatest fear and he’ll probably tell you it’s the enemies he doesn’t know about that scare him the most.

Guess what?

Your video has enemies. too.

I know, it might sound overly dramatic to begin with a military analogy, after all, it’s just a video, right? But think of it another way: Would you take the entire budget for your video production and toss it into the trash?

If you don’t know your enemy, that’s what you could be doing.

Here’s the secret.

The biggest threat your video faces is: The Status Quo. Because your audience, like the majority of us will do what we’ve always done before, even if there’s a better, smarter way.

Why?

Because we don’t like change. We do like predictability and comfort. We like the Status Quo.

George Bernard Shaw said it this way, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.

The purpose of your video is to change your audience, to move them to action. But I’ve got good news for you. There are some ways you can help your audience change.
In part 2 of this episode, we’ll address three of the ways you can defeat the Status Quo, your videos biggest enemy.
