Video Answers. Episode 14.
Videos are great, but how long would it take to make one? Believe it or not, you actually have a lot to do with the length of video production time. We cover that here in Video Answers Episode 14.
Like the question of cost, how long it takes to make a video depends on you and details of your video.
What do I mean when I say it depends on you?
You play a key role in the success of your project. In fact, here are five ways you can keep your video production on schedule.
5 Ways to Stay on Schedule
# 1. Designate a single point of contact
Input is good, but it can be time consuming and confusing to get feedback and direction from multiple sources – especially when they’re conflicting. So before you’re project gets started, designate a single point of contact within your organization for the project.
#2. Promptly approve all stages of production and provide all requested materials
Think of video production as a pyramid where each layer is built on the previous. A hold up anywhere in the process can create ripple effects everywhere. That’s why we ask our clients to be ready to promptly approve and provide all requested materials.
# 3. Verify, clarify and ask
We do everything we can to keep you in the loop before, during and after your production. But if you have questions, or just need some clarity, by all means verify, clarify, and ask to keep your project moving along.
#4. Communicate early and often
Communication is a two-way street. So, in the same way we communicate to you we also need the same level of communication from you. If your logo changes in the middle of the project or it’s looking like we won’t be able to shoot in the Springhill factory, communicate that as soon as you can, so that we can be prepared.
#5. Make changes sooner not later
Changes come with the territory. They are not a problem. Just remember, the sooner we get those changes, the less likely they are to slow your project down.
Now, back to our question: How long does it take to make a video?
How long it takes to make a video depends on you and the details of your project. But you can always get your project sooner by:
- Designating a single point of contact
- Prompting approving
- Asking questions
- Communicating early and often
- Making changes sooner instead of later
