Life at the Office: Simply Nate

Many of you have heard of Comprehensive Media’s little brother company, SimplyVideo. SimplyVideo is our other video production company, and Nate Cole is the man in charge.

Nate is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He and his beautiful wife, Lindsey, moved to Nashville a year and a half ago, and they are big fans of the warmer winter down here. Nate and Lindsey have been married for almost four years, and Lindsey is a preschool teacher. They have a one and a half year old bulldog named Wesley, who keeps them busy and all of us entertained.

When asked to describe a usual day as a Videographer and Editor, Nate said:

“I get to work at 9am, check my calendar and task list, make coffee, check emails, and start working on one of several projects that I have going on at any one time. Some common tasks that I will do throughout the day are: picking out music from our library, finding graphic templates and animating them, picking out soundbites by looking through transcripts, as well as just basic editing from scripts or client requested changes. We usually have some sort of meeting during the day. My day also includes time to catch up with my co-workers and see what’s going on with them.”

Before joining our team, Nate worked at a few different places. After a humble start at Gas Stations, Little Caesars Pizza, Amusement Parks, a Sign Making Company, and Walmart, Nate was a photojournalist and video editor at a local Fox TV Station for five years. Talk about multiple skills!

Nate loves coffee- but distinguishes that he doesn’t just like just any coffee though- no gas station cappuccino or drip coffee pots. He likes espresso lattes made from fresh ingredients (he recently bough an espresso machine after a recommendation from coffee addict, me). Nate enjoys creating things, whether it be music, drawing, or editing videos. He loves creating something from nothing.

However, he has a strong dislike for distracted drivers (he won Comprehensive Media’s “Slowest Driver Award” if that paints a picture for you), cold weather, exercise, rendering, buffering, and bills.
